It appears that we can no longer use our Nixplay photo frame without coughing up an annual subscription fee.
We bought it over other options primarily because it did not require a subscription fee.

Some years ago I hacked a frame together that displayed photos from a specific Google album. We gave it to an elderly grandmother, and didn't want to deal with subscription fees or any setup other than 'plug it in'.
I realize that's not an option for everyone, but I wonder if these days there are some ready to use images for raspberry pi that do this?
