We’re right in the middle of buying a retirement house for my mom.

So we’ve spent all but one day of the trip dealing with house stuff—reviewing sewer line inspection video (on Jen’s bday no less 😂), submitting paperwork for the mortgage, etc

But the end may be in sight! 🙌 -S

  1. and that caused a six-kiloton explosion that wiped out half of Halifax. It was the biggest “bomb” explosion until the nuclear bomb drops on Japan in 1945.
  1. The Halifax Explosion occurred during WWI in 1917, when two ships collided in the harbor, one of which was armed to the teeth with munitions. The resulting explosions caused a chemical reaction with the mutations one of the ships was carrying,

The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax is worth a stop. It has many absolutely amazing models of ships, an overview of Canada’s naval history and has sections dedicated to the Halifax explosion and the recovery of items from the Titanic. -J t.co/RPnRHFhjL…

Jen’s birthday was today and we made our way from PEI to Nova Scotia. Kind of a low key day with a couple breweries and the Canadian version of Ellis Island. t.co/QzP2epxq7…

In honor of Jen’s birthday tomorrow, I will be wearing all clean clothes. -S

We visited the remains of the B70 Internment Camp in New Brunswick, which housed Jewish refugees that had fled to England during WWII.

While we’re very familiar with the US Japanese internments—we’ve visited all the camps—we didn’t know anything about Jewish refugee transfers. t.co/IRJDzOat3…

Jen hit her 69th TCC country/territory today: Prince Edward Island. #GoQuesting1009 (TCC Countries and Territories); #GoQuesting1010 (Canadian Provinces); #lostneededdirections t.co/bxRmnxLUq…

We’re finally into our Canada portion of the trip—and it’s STILL raining.

And as a result, our camping plans have been skunked for the 4th straight night (which is probably what we should have expected given the year we’ve had).

We had to stop here for directions to our hotel. t.co/NGQgZU45O…

@Wexplorations I originally visited in 2016 just prior to its designation, and I had to contact the campaign just to get any sort of usable map of the rough gravel roads. It feels like a poorly funded BLM national monument in terms of visitor info and access; eg, you’re mostly on your own. -S

@Wexplorations No real facilities & loop road’s closed for logging. Some recently added contact stations in area. Baxter SP is popular—it’s adjacent, but not convenient. This is a park that’s very hard to visit well, esp if you have a rental car. We’ll come back again when we can really do more
