I’m looking forward to this weekend’s full moon kayak trip down the Salt River. It’s fun watching the sun set and the full moon rise as you paddle—sans headlamps—down the river, just the glow of the moon and some glowsticks lighting your way.

It’s a bit jarring to come across the CAP canal when you’re deep in the desert near a place called East Cactus Plain Wilderness Area.
I don’t care what kind of flower it is, or what kind of bug it is. If I find a bug on a flower, I take a photo.

Ok, I admit it. Niagara Falls was actually more impressive than I thought it would be. I can’t say I enjoyed the atmosphere of the tourist traps that have sprung up next to it, but being at the edge of the falls itself was worth going out of my way for.
Wave Cave is one of those “Instagram-Famous” places that remained virtually unknown until the last few years. Nowadays, it’s hard to find an outdoors-related instagram account that doesn’t feature a shot from this spot in the Superstition Mountains east of Phoenix.
Zzyzx is one of the oddest places you’ll find in a national park—for quite a few reasons.
