This is a terrible iPhone shot, but rest assured: if you ever get a chance to see the Kalapana lava flow in Volcanoes National Park, do not miss it. It is indescribably remarkable to see new land being created before your own eyes.
ICYMI, I’m now up to 373(!!!) national park units, just 40 shy of completing this epic quest of visiting all 413 units.
